Modern Robotics & A.I. (modernrobotics.co.uk) is an independent UK publication. We are the data controller for this site. Contact: modernroboticsuk@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and see which pages are popular. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites and does not identify you personally. Cloudflare also hosts the site and processes standard technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver pages securely.
Newsletter. If you sign up to our newsletter, your email address is collected and stored by Substack, which sends the emails on our behalf. We use it only to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email. Substack's own privacy policy applies to its service.
Emails to us. If you email us, we keep your message and email address only as long as needed to reply and deal with your enquiry.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site go to Amazon and other retailers. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set cookies on your device to record that you came from our site. We do not receive any of your personal details from them, only anonymous sales totals.
Advertising
We may show advertising in future, for example through Google AdSense. If we do, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and others. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or learn more at how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are set, and this policy will be updated.
Embedded content
Some pages include content from other sites, such as the Substack signup form and images hosted by Unsplash. These sites may collect data about you in the same way as if you visited them directly.
Legal basis
Under UK GDPR we rely on your consent for the newsletter and any advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interests for basic, privacy-friendly analytics and for replying to your emails.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Email modernroboticsuk@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
